AutoQuotes new VP of Sales & Business Development, Ross Buel, has been in the FES industry for more than 20 years. We recently had the chance to sit down and chat with him to get to know him better.
Why did you come to AutoQuotes?
Nothing is stagnant at AutoQuotes – that’s what attracted me to the company. I’ve worked with and around AQ throughout my career. The company has always been innovative with cutting-edge technology.
When I had the opportunity to meet the team, I was impressed with the energy and the passion. Every department is constantly looking for ways to bring new products and enhancements to our industry.
I thought to myself, you’d be crazy not to want to be a part of that.
Why the FES Industry?
Well that’s a great question. I have degrees in architecture, finance and manufacturing engineering and I started my career in design. It was a natural transition to Edward Don, where I led a team of regional sales managers, project managers, designers and operations personnel. From there, I moved to Master-Bilt Products and experienced the manufacturer side of the industry. I’ll tell you, after being in the industry for 20 years, I’m still fascinated by what it’s doing now and where it’s going. I see FES as part of the backbone of the American economy.
Now, I have the opportunity to combine sales, manufacturing and technology into what I think is an exciting journey for the next stage of my career.
What can AQ customers expect when working with you?
I’m a person who will listen and try to understand their business, help them improve their efficiencies and primarily find them solutions. I always want to anticipate what future problems our customers could encounter and have products and solutions ready to assist.
What initial questions would you ask AQ license holders?
How do you use our products and what do you want to gain through the use of AutoQuotes?
What initial questions would you ask manufacturers that publish in AQ?
How are you using our software system? Do you use it purely as a resource for researching other manufacturers, or have you looked into AQ Analytics, where your sales management team can analyze your quoting activity?
Who is Ross outside of the office?
I’m a learner who likes to try new things and enjoys a challenge. One reason I came to AutoQuotes is that the software industry is new to me and I’m ready for the challenge.
What is your favorite dessert and why?
My favorite dessert would probably be oatmeal or peanut butter cookies. I like to fool myself into thinking that they’re healthy because it’s oatmeal or peanut butter.
